“別廢話”怎么說(shuō)(通訊員稿) [ 2007-02-09 10:36 ]
有些人喜歡不斷地抱怨,然后blah-blah-blah話說(shuō)個(gè)不停,而且說(shuō)得內(nèi)容又無(wú)聊還總是重復(fù),聽(tīng)得人往往最后實(shí)在受不了了,超想殺出一句狠話,打斷抱怨者的喋喋不休,那遇到這種情況,我們可以怎么說(shuō)呢?
1.Cut the crap 少說(shuō)廢話
Crap表示“沒(méi)用的,廢話,廢物”,cut表示“切斷,停止”,cut the
crap指的是“別廢話”,或者“中斷某些說(shuō)話的人認(rèn)為毫無(wú)意義的事”。前幾天在ACCEPTED里看到這句話,主人公Barteleby因?yàn)閷W(xué)習(xí)實(shí)在是太爛了,所以沒(méi)有收到任何一所大學(xué)的錄取通知,然后他就想盡各種方法說(shuō)服他的父母讓他不去上大學(xué),但是他爸爸一句話就讓他閉了嘴--Okay,
cut the crap, Bartleby, Society has rules, and the first rule is you go to
college.
2.Get off my back 別羅嗦了
要是有人老是對(duì)你嘮叨個(gè)沒(méi)完,你可以說(shuō):“Hey, get off my back, will you!”(喂,你別跟我羅嗦了,行不行!)除此之外,To
get off someone's back 還可以指一些對(duì)人起限制作用的規(guī)章、條例或機(jī)構(gòu)等。例如:Do you know what would help
pick up the economy? Just get the government off our backs with all these
useless rules and regulations that keep us filling out forms and showing
inspectors around.(你知道什么能夠促使經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展更快嗎?就讓政府取消所有那些毫無(wú)用處的條例和規(guī)章就行了,省得我們老是填表格,帶著檢查員到處看。)
3. beat a dead horse白費(fèi)口舌,徒勞無(wú)功
我們前兩天講過(guò)的片語(yǔ)beat a dead
horse也可以用來(lái)告訴別人“不要再費(fèi)口舌了”,比如有人想和你重提一些很久很久以前的舊事,而你又絲毫不想繼續(xù)重溫往事,你可以說(shuō):“Oh, come on.
Let's not beat a dead horse.”(哦,拜托,我們別再白費(fèi)口舌了)或者,你可以表明自己的態(tài)度:“I have made up my
mind, there is no use beating a dead horse if you want to talk to me about it
again.”(我已經(jīng)下定決心了,如果你想再和我說(shuō)那事,只是白費(fèi)力而已。)
