The mascot for the Games was Appu – a kid elephant. Known in real life as "Kuttinarayanan", this elephant fractured its leg in an accident when he was seven years old – he stepped into a septic tank. That wound would not heal and it eventually killed him. Kuttinarayanan died on May 14, 2005.
第9屆亞運會吉祥物是印度的過手——亞洲象,取名“阿波”,象征智慧、力量和忠誠。它額頭點著朱砂痣,跳著印度舞,甩著長鼻子,熱烈歡迎來自亞洲各地的運動員們。它代表了特有的印度文化和風土人情。

第10屆漢城亞運會吉祥物 ——太極虎Hodori
Hodori was the official mascot of the 10th Asian Games Seoul 1986 and 1988 Summer Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea.
The stylized tiger was designed by Kim Hyun as an amicable Amur Tiger, portraying the friendly and hospitable traditions of the Korean people. "Ho" is derived from the Korean word for tiger ("horangi", Korean: ???), and "dori" is a diminutive for boys in Korean.
第10屆亞運會吉祥物與1988年漢城奧運會共用了一個吉祥物——太極虎。韓國人選擇較具東方色彩的小老虎作為漢城亞運會的吉祥物,取名Hodori。這個名叫"Hodori"的老虎被設計稱為一只友善的動物,代表了韓國人熱情好客的傳統(tǒng)。"Ho"來自于韓語的虎,而"Dori"是韓國人稱呼小男孩常用的一種愛稱。

The 1994 12th Asian Games held in Hiroshima, Japan had PoPPo (male) and CuCCu (female), two dove characters that were chosen to symolise peace and harmony and bring tranquility into the homes of Japan. Symbolic doves are thought to bring happiness and good chi (balance) into everyday life.
象征和平的白鴿作為廣島亞運會的代言,不僅可以作為廣島1945年8月6日遭受美軍投下第一枚原子彈襲擊的見證,同時也象征廣島所宣揚的和平與反戰(zhàn)精神。組委會希望藉由這兩只吉祥物,散播和平友誼的種子及溫馨。

The official Mascot of the 14th Asian Games is a sea gull, the city bird of Busan. The mascot's name is "Duria", which means "you and me together”, in the Korean language, and expresses the ideal of the Games: To promote unity and partnership among Asian countries.
第十四屆釜山亞運會的吉祥物是主辦地釜山市的市鳥——一只展翅高飛的海鷗。吉祥物的昵稱為“篤立亞(DURIA)”,與韓國語中“我和你在一起”的“倆(DURI)”諧音。因此,它與“增進參加大會的全體亞洲國家的團結和友誼,謀求不斷發(fā)展”的大會理念相符。

Proud of his country, he loves his family and is passionate about sports. He is an ideal symbol to celebrate Qatar's historic role in hosting the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006.
