如果想描述一個人或一件事情的變化或進展,表示 “越來越……”,可以使用 “comparatives(比較級)”。怎樣用英語說 “我越來越餓”?談論這類變化時,形容詞的音節(jié)數(shù)量是否會影響句子的結構?本集 “一分鐘英語” 視頻介紹用形容詞比較級描述進展的方法。
Hi, I'm Roy and today I'm going to tell you about using comparatives to say that someone or something is changing or developing.
So, the structure is like this:
Comparative + and + the same comparative.
So we put the 'and' in the middle of the two comparative adjectives.
Every year, I look older and older.
Don't forget that with adjectives of two or more syllables, like 'beautiful', we use the word 'more' + an adjective to make the comparative. We don't add '–er'.
With these, we add the 'and' in the middle of the two 'more's, for example:
Every day, my wife Luciana gets more and more beautiful.
Anyway, that's everything for today. I'm getting hungrier and hungrier, so I've got to go. Bye.
1 我們可以使用 “形容詞比較級 + and + 重復該形容詞比較級” 的結構來表達 “越來越……”。
Every year, I look older and older.
I'm getting hungrier and hungrier.
These trees will continue to grow bigger and bigger.
2 有兩個或以上音節(jié)的形容詞比較級通常為 “more + 形容詞原形”。在這種情況下,我們用 “more + and + more + 形容詞” 的結構來表達 “越來越……”。
Every day, my wife Luciana gets more and more beautiful.
I found the show more and more interesting as time went on.
