2月8日晚，北京冬奧會(huì)速度滑冰男子1500米比賽將在國(guó)家速滑館“冰絲帶”進(jìn)行，中國(guó)選手寧忠?guī)r將向這個(gè)項(xiàng)目的最高領(lǐng)獎(jiǎng)臺(tái)發(fā)起沖擊。一些觀眾可能會(huì)有疑問(wèn)，短道速滑和速度滑冰到底有什么不同？只是賽道長(zhǎng)度不一致嗎？

Speed skating is the most extensive event in skating sports which also enjoys the longest history. Men's and women's speed skating were debuted on the Winter Olympic programme respectively in 1924 and 1960.
速度滑冰是滑冰運(yùn)動(dòng)中歷史最為悠久，開(kāi)展最為廣泛的項(xiàng)目。男、女速滑分別于1924年、1960年被列為冬奧會(huì)比賽項(xiàng)目。

速度滑冰是一項(xiàng)在400米賽道上較量滑行速度的冰上體育運(yùn)動(dòng)。400米賽道分內(nèi)道和外道，2人1組進(jìn)行比賽，每滑1圈到達(dá)換道區(qū)時(shí)，內(nèi)道起跑的運(yùn)動(dòng)員須換到外道滑跑，而外道運(yùn)動(dòng)員則須換到內(nèi)道，誰(shuí)快誰(shuí)贏。

Unlike in speed skating, competitors in short track speed skating race against one another - not the clock. As a result, short track races are full of strategy, bravery, skill and high-intensity excitement.
與速度滑冰不同的是，短道速滑比賽是參賽者之間的直接較量，而不是與時(shí)間賽跑。因此，短道速滑比賽策略、膽識(shí)、技巧和刺激并存。

The short track events occur on a 111-meter oval track. The skaters race in a pack of 4-8 at a time, and the first person crossing the finish line is the winner.
短道速滑的賽道通常是111米的橢圓賽道。短道速滑比賽采用淘汰制，4-8名運(yùn)動(dòng)員在1條起跑線上同時(shí)起跑出發(fā)，以到達(dá)終點(diǎn)先后順序論勝負(fù)。
