你問我答

形容詞 noticeable、noted 和 notable 的區(qū)別和用法

內(nèi)容簡介

“Noticeable”、“noted” 和 “notable” 都可以作形容詞使用,意思都與 “顯著的” 有關(guān)。比如:如果你給自己剪了頭發(fā),想問另一個(gè)人 “看著明顯嗎?Is it _______?” 空白處應(yīng)用它們當(dāng)中的哪個(gè)詞?搭配 “be noted for something” 和 “be notable for something” 一樣嗎?答案就在本期 “你問我答” 節(jié)目中。

大家好,歡迎收聽 BBC英語教學(xué)的 “你問我答” 節(jié)目。I'm Jiaying.

Beth
And I'm Beth. This week, we are answering this question:

Question
我有個(gè)問題:“noticeable、noted” 和 “notable” 有什么區(qū)別?怎么區(qū)分什么時(shí)候用 “noted”,什么時(shí)候用 “notable”?

Beth
'Noticeable' is less easily confused than 'noted' and 'notable', so we'll explain that first. 'Noticeable' is an adjective that means easy to see or recognise.

Jiaying
沒錯(cuò),形容詞 “noticeable” 的意思是 “顯而易見的,顯著的”。在描述人的時(shí)候,“noticeable” 多用來形容 “一個(gè)人外表或性格上的變化是明顯的”。

Beth
And it's also commonly used with the nouns 'improvement' and 'change'.

Jiaying
常與 “noticeable” 搭配使用的名詞有 “improvement” 和 “change”,分別表示 “進(jìn)步和變化是明顯的”。來聽三個(gè)使用了形容詞 “noticeable” 的例句。

Examples
I cut my own hair yesterday. Is it noticeable?
(我昨天給我自己剪了頭發(fā)??粗黠@嗎?)

Matteo has made a noticeable improvement in maths this term.
(馬泰奧這學(xué)期在數(shù)學(xué)這門科目上有明顯的進(jìn)步。)

The change is quite noticeable. I was surprised you didn't see it.
(變化很明顯。我很驚訝你沒看出來。)

Jiaying
講完了 “noticeable”,我們來對比一下 “noted” 和 “notable” 之間的區(qū)別。

Beth
'Noted' means something is known by many people, especially for a quality that is admirable.

Jiaying
“Noted” 作形容詞時(shí)的意思是 “眾所周知的,著名的”,尤其可以用來描述 “一個(gè)人因良好的品質(zhì)或素質(zhì)而聲名遠(yuǎn)揚(yáng)的” 或 “一樣事物以高質(zhì)量著稱的”。我們常說 “be noted for something(因…而聞名,以…著稱)”。聽兩個(gè)例句。

Examples
This athlete is noted for his incredible stamina in long-distance races.
(這名運(yùn)動(dòng)員以他在長跑中非凡的耐力而出名。)

This university is noted for its scholarship programme.
(這所大學(xué)以其獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金項(xiàng)目而聞名。)

Jiaying
那么,形容詞 “notable” 又該怎么用呢?

Beth
Now, 'notable' means 'deserves to be noted', so something deserves attention and to be known because it is important.

Jiaying
“Notable” 的意思是 “因在某個(gè)方面具有重要特征而值得注意的、令人矚目的”。比如:你可能收集了大量的郵票,擁有 “a notable collection of stamps”;一棟樓可能因?yàn)橛蟹浅A钊瞬毮康慕ㄖ卣鞫恍稳轂?“notable”。來聽兩個(gè)使用了 “notable” 的例句。

Examples
My father owns a notable collection of Roman coins.
(我父親收藏了一批珍貴的羅馬錢幣。)

Newton's laws of motion are notable theories in physics.
(牛頓的三大運(yùn)動(dòng)定律是物理學(xué)中的重要理論。)

Beth
And we can also say that something can 'be notable for something', which means it deserves attention often because it has an important or prominent feature.

Jiaying
搭配 “be notable for something” 用來表示 “因…而值得注意的,因…而令人矚目的”。請聽例句。

Example
This manor house is notable for its original period features.
(這座莊園以其獨(dú)特的時(shí)代特征而令人矚目。)

Beth
So, the biggest difference between 'noted' and 'notable' is that 'noted' means known by many and 'notable' means deserves to be known by many.

Jiaying
總結(jié)一下:形容詞 “noticeable” 的意思是 “顯而易見的”;“noted” 的意思是 “因優(yōu)秀的品質(zhì)或特征而眾所周知的”,常用搭配是 “be noted for something”;“notable” 的意思是 “因?yàn)槟硞€(gè)方面具有重要的特征而值得注意的、令人矚目的”,但這個(gè)事物并不一定很有名。
