President Obama is practicing a new brand of foreign relations, appearing to flirt with Thailand’s attractive prime minister on his first stop of his three-day tour of Southeast Asia.

The president and Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra could be seen laughing together and exchanging playful glances through a state dinner at the Government House in Bangkok on Sunday.

He was joined in Thailand by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He said it is 'no accident' that he planned his first foreign trip to Asia after winning re-election.

Speaking at a news conference on Sunday in Bangkok, Obama emphasized that the US is a 'Pacific nation.'

He said the Asia-Pacific region will be crucial for creating jobs in the US and shaping its security and prosperity.

The president's visit made quite an impression on Thailand, and adoring crowds gathered around him and chanted ‘Obama, Obama’ as he visited the Temple of Reclining Buddha just after arriving in Bangkok.

'Yes! I saw him! And he was waving at us!' said 72-year-old American tourist Elizabeth Simon visiting Thailand with her 74-year-old sister.

They were at the beach in Pattaya two hours away but rushed to Bangkok just to see him. 'I'm so thrilled that he won the election. When we heard he was coming, we decided to get here.'

美國(guó)總統(tǒng)奧巴馬在外交關(guān)系上又有“新舉措”。近日他在訪問(wèn)泰國(guó)時(shí)，與泰國(guó)的美女總理英拉“調(diào)情”。泰國(guó)是他對(duì)東南亞國(guó)家進(jìn)行為期三天訪問(wèn)的首站。

上周日，在曼谷政府大樓舉行的招待國(guó)宴上，奧巴馬和泰國(guó)總理英拉-西那瓦有說(shuō)有笑，眉目傳情。

陪同奧巴馬一起出訪的還有美國(guó)國(guó)務(wù)卿希拉里-克林頓。奧巴馬表示，他在連任成功后首先出訪亞洲“絕非意外”。

上周日在曼谷舉行的新聞發(fā)布會(huì)上，奧巴馬強(qiáng)調(diào)說(shuō)，美國(guó)是個(gè)“太平洋國(guó)家”。

他說(shuō)，亞太地區(qū)對(duì)美國(guó)的就業(yè)、安保和繁榮都至關(guān)重要。

奧巴馬到訪泰國(guó)受到熱捧。他到達(dá)曼谷后拜訪臥佛寺時(shí)，仰慕他的民眾爭(zhēng)相一睹他的真容，高呼“奧巴馬，奧巴馬”。

72歲的美國(guó)游客伊麗莎白-西蒙正與74歲的姐姐一起在泰國(guó)游玩。他說(shuō)：“真的！我看到他了！他當(dāng)時(shí)正向我們招手！”

當(dāng)時(shí)她們正在芭提亞的海灘游玩，距離曼谷有兩小時(shí)車程，但還是匆匆趕往曼谷。“他贏得大選我真高興。我們聽到他要來(lái)泰國(guó)的消息后，就決定來(lái)看看了?！?/p>
