1. on fire
本意是著火,在口語(yǔ)中常用來(lái)表示一個(gè)人狀態(tài)特別好,手感特別好,表現(xiàn)得很好,也可以用來(lái)形容一個(gè)事物非常好
例句:
Damn, that party was on fire.
我去,那派對(duì)簡(jiǎn)直不要太贊。
You are on fire today.
你今天狀態(tài)特別好/火力全開(kāi)啊。
2. get the hang of
指在經(jīng)過(guò)練習(xí)之后摸清某物的用法,得知某事的竅門(to succeed in learning how to do something after practising it)
例句:

3. pay through the nose
花大價(jià)錢買某物
例句:
If you bring a car into the city, you have to pay through the nose for parking it.

極度的失望,沉重的打擊,重大的挫折
例句:
The Government's decision is a real kick in the teeth for the unions.

8. weak at the knees
(通常指因看到或談到非常喜歡的人或讓人害怕、激動(dòng)的事而)無(wú)法站穩(wěn),膝蓋發(fā)軟的,腿發(fā)軟的
例句:
The very thought of jumping off the bridge made him go weak at the knees.
想到要跳下橋他嚇得腿都軟了。
The thought of kissing him made me go weak at the knees.

9. put your foot in your mouth
無(wú)意中說(shuō)錯(cuò)話而傷害了別人
例句:
I certainly put my foot in my mouth at the party last night when I asked Mr. Brown to say hello to his wife for me. Somehow I'd forgotten that his wife died six months ago.

這個(gè)俚語(yǔ)意思就相當(dāng)于no problem,no difficulty,do not worry

11. get to the bottom of something
搞清楚某事,徹查某事,對(duì)…尋根究底(to get an understanding of the causes of something)
例句:
There is clearly something wrong here, and I need to get to the bottom of it.
這顯然有什么不對(duì)的地方,我要徹底搞清楚。
12. put up or shut up
要么行動(dòng)要么就閉嘴,有點(diǎn)類似于網(wǎng)上流行的“You can you up, no can no bb(你行你上啊,不行別逼逼)”
例句:
You keep saying you're going to ask her out. Well, put up or shut up.
你一直說(shuō)要約她去約會(huì),那么,要么行動(dòng)起來(lái),要么就閉嘴。
