6日，國(guó)新辦召開(kāi)世界公眾科學(xué)素質(zhì)促進(jìn)大會(huì)和全國(guó)科普日新聞發(fā)布會(huì)，中國(guó)科學(xué)技術(shù)協(xié)會(huì)科學(xué)技術(shù)普及部公布的數(shù)據(jù)顯示，我國(guó)公民科學(xué)素質(zhì)提升顯著。

According to a national survey on scientific literacy, nearly 8.5% of China's total population is scientifically literate in 2018, a 2.3 percentage point increase compared to 2015.
一項(xiàng)關(guān)于科學(xué)素質(zhì)的全國(guó)性調(diào)查顯示，2018年，我國(guó)公民具備科學(xué)素質(zhì)的比例已接近8.5%，較2015年上升了2.3個(gè)百分點(diǎn)。

中國(guó)科協(xié)科學(xué)技術(shù)普及部部長(zhǎng)(director-general of the Department of Science Popularization at the Chinese Association of Science and Technology)白希介紹說(shuō)，改革開(kāi)放(reform and opening up)以來(lái)，中國(guó)公民的科學(xué)素質(zhì)(scientific literacy)提升非常顯著：2005年調(diào)查結(jié)果顯示，中國(guó)公民具備科學(xué)素質(zhì)的比例僅略高于1%，而從最新的第10次中國(guó)公民科學(xué)素質(zhì)調(diào)查數(shù)據(jù)(data of the 10th national survey on scientific literacy)看，截至2018年，已經(jīng)達(dá)到8.47%，對(duì)于"十三五"規(guī)劃(13th Five-Year Plan)要求在2020年底達(dá)到10%的目標(biāo)來(lái)說(shuō)，增長(zhǎng)很快，進(jìn)步巨大。

這意味著如今更多國(guó)人都能理解科學(xué)(understand and appreciate science)，并將其用于解決生活和工作中的問(wèn)題(solve issues in life and at work)。調(diào)查對(duì)受訪者的基礎(chǔ)科學(xué)知識(shí)(basic science knowledge)、對(duì)于重要科學(xué)問(wèn)題的看法(opinions on key scientific issues)及其通過(guò)科學(xué)做決定和解決問(wèn)題的能力(ability to use science to make decisions and solve problems)進(jìn)行測(cè)試。

中國(guó)公民具備科學(xué)素質(zhì)比例近8.5%，這個(gè)數(shù)字意味著什么？中國(guó)科協(xié)副主席徐延豪指出，全球30多個(gè)科技先行國(guó)家(technologically advanced countries)在進(jìn)入創(chuàng)新型國(guó)家行列(innovation powerhouses)的時(shí)候，其公民具備較高科學(xué)素質(zhì)的比例最少也要10%(at least 10% of their population is scientifically literate)。因此，衡量一個(gè)國(guó)家是否進(jìn)入創(chuàng)新型國(guó)家行列，公眾具有較高科學(xué)素質(zhì)的比例至少要有10%。中國(guó)今年達(dá)8.47%，2020年10%的目標(biāo)已有了基礎(chǔ)。

"Improving scientific literacy, upholding the scientific spirit, and spreading the use of scientific methods are crucial in eliminating superstitions and false rumors," Huai Jinpeng, executive vice-president of the science association, said. "This will be a long and challenging process, but we are confident in overcoming the issues."
中國(guó)科學(xué)技術(shù)協(xié)會(huì)常務(wù)副主席懷進(jìn)鵬稱，推進(jìn)公民素質(zhì)提高，弘揚(yáng)科學(xué)精神，傳播科學(xué)方法對(duì)破除迷信和訛傳來(lái)說(shuō)極為重要。這將是一個(gè)長(zhǎng)期和充滿挑戰(zhàn)的過(guò)程，但我們有信心克服難關(guān)。
