上次的30個口語表達(dá)大家學(xué)得差不多了吧(沒看過的同學(xué)點這里),這次雙語君給大家放出第二彈,接好了~
1 There's not much to it.
? There's not much to it:
很容易,沒什么難的。通常在講解如何操作某種東西時使用。
You just flip that switch and wait. There's not much to it.
只要撥一下開關(guān),然后就等著,沒什么難的。
2 All right, whatever. Suit yourself.
? Suit yourself:
隨你便吧,你自己決定。這可以是中性的表達(dá),但如果語氣重一點,就是在說,愛咋咋地,我不管了。
-I'm too tired to go out tonight.
我今晚太累,不想出去玩了。
-Suit yourself.
隨你便。
3 Can you Cc me and Eddie when you send that?
? Cc (someone) : Cc 是 Carbon copy的縮寫,是在寫郵件中所用到的“抄送”。
I'll Cc you when I send it.
我會在發(fā)郵件的時候抄送給你。
4 I'm so out of it this morning.
? (someone) is out of it :
指某人不在狀態(tài)。
You seem kind of out of it today.
你今天看起來好像不太在狀態(tài)啊。
5 There's a fine line between helping your kids with their homework and doing it for them.
? There’s a fine line between: 這個表達(dá)用于指兩件事很相似,以至于容易混淆,指微妙的差別。
There's a fine line between a frown and a grimace.
皺眉和做鬼臉,兩者之間有微妙差別。
6 You can tell that she's had work done.
? (someone) has had work done: 這句話是指某人做過了整形手術(shù)。
Amy said she's never had work done on her face.
Amy說她從來沒整過容。
7 I don't know off the top of my head, but I'll shoot them over to you this afternoon.
? Off the top of my head:當(dāng)場就能想到,即興說出。如果用在否定意義的句子里,多半是用來暗示需要再多一點時間思考。
I can think of two people who might be interested, off the top of my head.
我現(xiàn)在只能想到兩個可能會感興趣的人。
8 If you’re feeling under the weather, by all means go home and get some rest.
? By all means:請務(wù)必,一定要做某事。也可以在回答提議時說,相當(dāng)于“當(dāng)然”。
“May I make a suggestion?” “By all means.”
我能提個建議嗎? 當(dāng)然。
9 Can you please cut it out.
? Cut it out: 當(dāng)別人在做一些令你心煩的事情,你就可以讓他cut it out,意思就是你能停下來嗎。
I'm sick of that joke. Cut it out, will you?
我不喜歡那個玩笑,你能不能別說了?
10 Let’s crack open the window and have some fresh air.
? Crack open the window : 這個表達(dá)和“open the window” 很像,但程度不同,crack open the window是指把窗戶打開一道縫隙。
It’s a bit stuffy in here, let’s crack open the window.
這里面有點悶,我們開一點點窗吧。
11 You're gonna screw up that test.
? Screw up:把事情搞砸。
I had a perfect chance, but I screwed up.
我本來有一個特別棒的機(jī)會,但是我把它搞砸了。
12 I was on the verge of going to sleep at a point.
? At a point / at some point:在某個時刻,其中at a point 更強(qiáng)調(diào)是在某一個特定的時刻。
You will have to do your homework at some point.
你遲早是要做作業(yè)的時候。
I was so close to beat the record at a point.
我有一次差點就打破紀(jì)錄了。
13 Get over it!
? Get over it: 指忘掉煩心事,相當(dāng)于forget about it。
It’s not a big deal, so get over it.
多大點事,別想它了。
14 I wound up going over to James’s place.
? Wind up: 結(jié)果;最終變成的樣子。
He overspent and wound up in debt.
他大手大腳地花錢,結(jié)果負(fù)債累累。
15 I’m working the night shift tomorrow.
? Work … shift:表示上…班,work the night shift是指上晚班。
I’m working the morning shift today.
我今天上早班。
16 They've been getting a bit of media attention lately.
? Get media attention:得到媒體的關(guān)注,媒體曝光率高,也就是所謂的“紅”。
She’s getting all the media attention recently.
她最近可紅了。
17 I thought it was a really original take on the play.
? A take on something:對某事物的見解、詮釋。上面的例句可以理解成對這部話劇的全新有創(chuàng)意的演繹。Original指獨創(chuàng)、新穎的。
So what's your take on this new book? 你對這本新書有什么看法嗎?
18 Go easy on me!
? Go easy on (someone):手下留情,別太狠。
Go easy on me, I just started a month ago.
對我手下留情啊,我才開始一個月。
19 Just ease into it.
? Ease into it:意思是“慢慢來”,一般用于勸別人放松心情。
Don’t try so hard, ease into it.
不要那么拼命,慢慢來。
20 I’m going to head off to bed.
? Head off to (somewhere):指出發(fā)去某個地方。
We are heading off to school.
我們要去上學(xué)了。
21 You have to chill.
? Chill:原意是冷,在日常用語中,多表示relax,放松。
The test shouldn’t be that hard; you can chill.
考試不會那么難,你可以放輕松。
22 Would you happen to have a pen?
? Happen to (do something):這個表達(dá)的意思是“正好”,一般用于委婉地請求別人做某事。
Do you happen to have your Chemistry book?
你手頭有化學(xué)課本嗎?
23 For the record he wasn't agreed with that.
? For the record:鄭重說明。
For the record, I have never been to the apartment.
鄭重說明一下,我從來沒去過那個公寓。
24 Just because I am fat doesn’t mean I’m slow.
?Just because… doesn’t mean…:這是口語中非常常見的表達(dá),雖然很多人覺得它語法有問題,意思是“雖然……但不代表……”。
Just because I am slim doesn’t mean I like sports.
雖然我很苗條,但這不代表我喜歡運(yùn)動。
25 Does anyone want to split with me?
? Split with (someone):這個詞組跟“share with” 是同義詞,翻譯成“與…分享”。
Do you want to split this cake with me?
你想跟我分吃這個蛋糕嗎?
26 Are you seeing anyone?
? seeing someone :表示談朋友,搞對象
Have you heard the news? Rick is seeing someone.
聽說了嗎,Rick交了個女朋友。
27 I’ll let it slide this time.
? Let it slide:這個表達(dá)常用于對方犯錯誤的時候,不追究,不指出,放過某人。
He used an incorrect word but, because he's my friend, I let it slide.
他說錯了一個詞,但是因為他是我朋友,我沒多追究。
28 A woman wants a guy who she can click with.
? Click:一拍即合、合得來,能產(chǎn)生共鳴。
When I first met her, we just clicked, and we're best friends now.
我們第一次見面,我就感覺和她很投緣,現(xiàn)在我們是最好的朋友了。
29 Do I look presentable?
? Presentable:衣著得體,能出去見人的意思。
I don’t think you are presentable.
我覺得你需要把自己整理一下。
30 You need to scale back.
? Scale back:指“縮減”,或者“使減少”。
It’s way too much, you have to scale it back. 這也太多了,你得要想辦法讓減掉一點。
