A well-known Chinese entrepreneur and philanthropist has pledged to donate his entire fortune to charity after his death, becoming the first in China to respond to the campaign launched in the US by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, who will soon visit China to advocate philanthropy.
文中的donate his entire fortune to charity after his death字面上是“死后將全部財(cái)產(chǎn)捐出”,其實(shí)就是我們常說(shuō)的“裸捐”,英文中也可以用all-out donation來(lái)表示。蓋茨和巴菲特在美國(guó)勸說(shuō)富豪們give the majority of their wealth(捐出大部分財(cái)產(chǎn)),這些富豪都屬于super-rich級(jí)別。
不少富豪由于害怕being lobbied to make charity promises(勸捐),因而婉拒了philanthropic gathering/banquet(慈善晚宴)的邀請(qǐng)。因?yàn)樵谥袊?guó),富豪們都想要leave their entire fortunes to their descendants(把財(cái)產(chǎn)留給后代),這是一個(gè)deep-rooted concept(根深蒂固的觀念),不是那么容易改變的。
